RCD snubber circuit is used with SCR

The snubber circuit is used in thyristor circuits to dampen the ringing when turning off SCR. An RC snubber protects an SCR against false switching-ON due to high break-over voltage induced by L* di/dt. Thyristor snubber circuit exampled with a reverse polarized Diode “D” and a discharge resistor “R_D”. Here R and C are snubber resistor and capacitor respectively. Values of Snubber Resistor and Capacitor can be determined by reading the snubber circuit design page.
